Wide chrome mouldings encircle all meters of the driver instrument cluster, and the centre instrument panel has a dark titanium surface colour. This elegant décor is repeated on the surface of the middle tunnel, as moulding for the dashboard fascia, the armrests of the door trim and door handles. The shift lever and shift console of the automatic transmission are in the same metallic-look as the air conditioning control knobs.

 

A silver-look moulding frames the centre instrument panel and drops down as low as the middle tunnel, and contrasts nicely with the dark panel colour and the surface of the radio, which is in piano black.

The Mazda 6 sedan comes with a choice of two engines, which have been developed to achieve world-class performance in combination with lower emissions and smooth, quiet operation.

 

  The first engine offering is the 2.3 Liter Double Over Head Cam (DOHC) 4-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing technology. It has a maximum power output of 156 hp with 154 lb/ft of torque. Among the key objectives for this engine was achieving more torque, horsepower and smoothness, while delivering improved fuel economy, lower emissions and minimal maintenance requirements. The engine hits all of these marks, thanks to the use of lightweight aluminum, innovative engineering, such as the use of Mazda's Sequential Valve Timing (SVT), balance shaft and a keen attention to detail.

 

  The second engine offering is a higher performance 3.0L DOHC V6 engine with a maximum power output of 212 hp with 197 ft/lb of torque. It has been optimized for low-friction efficiency and high power and torque output. Both engines meet the Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle requirements (ULEV gasoline engine). The 24-valve engine also is equipped with sequential valve timing.
